Music Connection
''Music Connection'' is a US-based monthly music-trade magazine, published since 1977. It caters to career-minded musicians, songwriters, recording artists and assorted music-industry support personnel. The magazine began by focusing on the Southern California music scene, but now has a national focus and national distribution. The publication and its website (musicconnecion.com) offer inside information about the music business, including specialized directories of contact information about music professionals and Free Classifieds for musicians. ==Beginnings==
Music Connection magazine was founded by J. Michael Dolan (www.jmichaeldolan.com] in 1977. The publication quickly became a “must read” for industry executives, and a trusted advocate for musicians and songwriters, who promptly dubbed it “the musician’s bible.” Shortly thereafter, Michael created Songwriter Connection magazine, which became part of the MC family of invaluable products and services. That publication was later sold to a privately held company. As Music Connection continued to grow and evolve Michael saw the need to provide a more contemporary method for musicians to communicate with each other. Utilizing the power of the MC brand, Michael created the AMP network, a private membership organization that catered to Artists, Musicians and Players. Subsequently, in order to tie-in all of the company’s products and services including all three websites and the monthly magazine, Michael created a subscription-based Weekly Bulletin (email blast) which provides exclusive news and opportunities for people who work in the music industry, and also helps the company stay in constant communication with its readers and customers. In 2010, Michael sold his shares of Music Connection Inc. to E. Eric Bettelli.
Founder Michael Dolan sold the company in May 2010, to Eric Bettelli, who is now the sole Publisher, with Senior Editor Mark Nardone promoted to Associate Publisher/Senior Editor.
